Job Title: Sr. District Market Manager

Department: Retail Mass Merchandising

Reports to: Sr. Directo r of Operations

Location: New York, NY

Salary: $85,000-$90,000

Note that this range is representative of earning potential and actual pay will be based on skills, experience, and/or geographic location.

Winston Retail is looking for a Sr. District Market Manager to ensure the implementation of Retail Mass Merchandising initiatives directed by Winston Retail, the client, and retailers are are executed consistently across all assigned locations. This role is responsible for the management and success of retailer relationships at all levels while partnering cross-functionally with Winston Regional Management to ensure in-store talent execution. The Sr. District Manager oversees and leads a team of District Market Managers. This role partners with Account Management and Account Training on a regular basis.

Along with regular travel, those in this role within the NYC area are required to report to the New York Office 2x per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee, coach, and develop a team of District Market Managers to ensure they are well equipped to direct their assigned field teams and foster strong store relationships.

  • Provide timely and direct coaching and feedback to District Market Managers on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage travel for District Market Managers in the field, ensuring their assigned regions are appropriately supported, and travel is balanced.
  • Lead the way in building successful and lasting store and client relationships, setting an example for District Market Managers to follow.
  • Schedule and lead regular team meetings to discuss successes, opportunities, and solutions to drive results in the field.
  • Host ongoing team training to ensure partnership, negotiating, and management skills are fortified and deployed successfully to support Field Merchandisers as well as store and client representatives.
  • Aggregate data from a team of District Market Manager direct reports to identify trends across the organization and develop solutions and improvements that drive results.

Lead and manage a regular schedule of store teams and visits to inspire, coach, advocate, and develop the team members to deliver consistent execution in meeting client's project objectives.

  • Lead and manage a team of Field Merchandisers in collaboration with the Regional Management, Account Training Management, and Account Management teams to ensure the highest possible completion rate for each serviced location.
  • Train Field Merchandisers on their role and responsibilities with respect to execution, negotiating skills, and building successful relationships with store personnel at all levels to accomplish project objectives.
  • Direct contact with regional, store, and department managers to foster strong relationships and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
  • Promote a high-performing culture and set the pace of excellent visit execution to drive the consumer experience.
  • Employ negotiating skills on behalf of the client to ensure designated and focal product placement.
  • Travel to retailers within the assigned region on a regular basis (up to 75% travel required)

Education and Experience:

  • 7+ years of regional management experience within a department, specialty, big box, or retail chain
  • Experience managing a team of 40 or more people
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a team
  • Experience in Retail Mass Merchandising and/or grocery preferred
