Salary: 100,000 - 110,000 / year based on experience

Job Summary

The Sr. Director of Food & Nutrition Services provides overall leadership for a 212-bed acute care hospital in Midwood, Brooklyn, overseeing a fully Kosher foodservice operation with approximately $5 million in annual managed volume. This role is responsible for operational excellence, financial performance, regulatory compliance, patient satisfaction, and team development.

The Sr. Director leads a team of 37 union employees, 3 managers, and 2 Mashgichim, ensuring high-quality food service, adherence to Kosher standards, and strong collaboration with hospital leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily Food & Nutrition Services operations and budget performance.
  • Ensure high-quality patient, retail, and catering food services.
  • Manage labor, purchasing, inventory, and food cost controls.
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare, food safety, sanitation, and Kosher requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with hospital leadership, patients, and clinical teams.
  • Develop and mentor managers and frontline staff.
  • Foster a positive union workforce environment and support operational excellence.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare or foodservice operations.
  • Experience managing budgets, inventory, purchasing, and food cost controls.
  • Knowledge of acute care hospital foodservice and Kosher operations preferred.
  • Strong financial, operational, and client relationship management skills.
  • Experience managing unionized teams and working effectively within a labor relations environment
  • ServSafe® certification preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams and drive continuous improvement.
