Full Job Description
Sr. DevOps Engineer - Federal Customer (On-site 5 days per week, Chantilly, VA - TS/SCI Required) If you enjoy working with new technologies, enterprise-leading equipment, and have a passion for building and maintaining information technology (IT) infrastructures, we would like to speak to you. This position will play a key role in supporting next-generation infrastructure to drive innovation. You will join a diverse team of DevOps Engineers to design, deploy, maintain, and secure platform infrastructure. You will collaborate with people inside and outside the organization to deliver the highest standards for building, deploying, and securing infrastructure. The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure. This includes automating the deployment and configuration of operating systems, applications, and platform components associated with Kubernetes. As a DevOps Engineer, you are responsible for the entire stack (DNS, IdM, OCP, OAUTH, DHCP, S3, NFS, Application Stack, and more). Key Job Responsibilities Senior DevOps Engineers demonstrate the ability to analyze complex problems and engineer effective solutions. • Understanding of networking concepts, including bonding, bridging, VLANs, firewalls, and troubleshooting • Solid understanding of multiple operating systems (Linux, BSD, UNIX) • Knowledge of one or more scripting languages: Python, Go, Bash • Expertise in containerization platforms like Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift • Strong foundational knowledge of security concepts, including encryption, authentication, authorization, and access controls • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, developers, and project management • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and priorities • Desire to continue learning and professional development in the field of DevOps Engineering Required Qualifications • Experience deploying, managing, and monitoring Kubernetes and the containerized applications running within • Working knowledge of authentication protocols and methodologies (IdM, OIDC, KeyCloak, Authentik) • Experience containerizing applications via Docker / Podman • Strong background in one or more programming languages (Python, Go, Rust). • Expertise in securing Kubernetes environments, including RBAC, Pod Security Policies/Admission Controllers, vulnerability scanning, secret management (e.g., Vault, AWS Secrets Manager), and network security. • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex performance issues within Kubernetes, optimize resource utilization, and implement best practices for cluster tuning. • Advanced troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving issues across the entire Kubernetes stack, from infrastructure to application-level problems. • Hands-on experience with popular CI/CD platforms like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Tekton, Argo Workflows, or similar. • Ability to design, implement, and maintain robust, automated CI/CD pipelines for deploying containerized applications to Kubernetes, adhering to best practices like GitOps. • 15+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree • Active TS/SCI and the ability to maintain access as required by the program Core Competencies - Leadership • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in distributed systems. • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with development teams, operations, security, and other stakeholders. • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead technical initiatives. • Mentorship: As a Senior role, the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and foster best practices. • Proactive & Ownership: Proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues, with a strong sense of ownership over the platform. • Adaptability & Continuous Learning: Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to a rapidly evolving cloud-native landscape.
