Full Job Description
This opportunity entails being responsible for interpreting client goals and program requirements needed to establish design goals and parameters for large sized and complex project assignments. Serves as a resource to the project architect and project manager as the design is developed. Responsible for communication of design concepts to client and project teams. The Sr Design Principal Team Leader provides guidance and direction and oversees the work of staff.

What You'll Do:
  • Develops and presents lead technical viewpoint on all projects and ensures HNTB systens are used to deliver the design in a standardized manner.
  • Prepares design concepts consistent with client's goals, budget and schedule.
  • Works closely with the project architect and protect manager in planning and implementing all work processes.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on architectural projects of the largest size and/or most complex.
  • Develops and presents design viewpoint on all projects. Ensures that a design solution, consistent with the program, budget and schedule is properly developed and produced.
  • May mentor other team members, including those with less experience.
  • Guides the development and implementation of practice-wide technical and delivery standards.
  • Leads market sector leadership initiatives.
  • Maintains strong client network with regular communication with clients and industry influencers outside of current pursuits and projects.
  • Maintains and develops notable industry recognition and reputation as a thought leader through the largest projects, pursuits and trend technical research in select markets.
  • Contributes to and develops content supporting brand recognition and thought leadership goals through all external mediums including but not limited to conference panel speaking, press articles and white papers.
  • Provides input on recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including performance and compensation reviews, and succession planning. Coordinates schedules and approves timecards. Aids in establishing employees' objectives and provides feedback while coaching and mentoring their team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field and 12 years of relevant experience.

The approximate pay range for Los Angeles Metro Area and Orange County, CA is $145,993.46 - $228,348.77. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for New York is $158,688.55 - $248,205.18. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position based on all selected locations within the state at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
