About This RoleThe Senior Demand Planner is a critical member of the Global Supply Chain organization, responsible for developing a reliable, consensus-based demand plan that connects market signals, customer needs, commercial priorities, and business assumptions. This role leads demand analysis across planning horizons, identifies forecast risks and opportunities, and translates complex inputs into clear scenarios that support supply, inventory, capacity, and financial decisions. The planner partners across Commercial, Finance, Marketing, Customer Care, Operations, Supply Planning, and Analytics to improve forecast quality, visibility, and decision-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Own the unconstrained demand plan for the assigned portfolio across short-, mid-, and long-term planning horizons using statistical forecasts, business intelligence, and cross-functional inputs.
- Lead the monthly demand review process by aligning Commercial, Marketing, Finance, Customer Care, and Operations on a consensus forecast and its underlying assumptions.
- Analyze historical demand, orders, customer behavior, market trends, promotions, product lifecycle events, and commercial intelligence to identify forecast risks and opportunities.
- Measure and communicate forecast performance using appropriate accuracy, bias, value-add, and exception metrics; determine root causes and coordinate corrective actions.
- Develop demand scenarios and sensitivity analyses to support business decisions, financial outlooks, capacity planning, inventory strategies, and supply-risk mitigation.
- Partner with Supply Planning and Operations to communicate demand changes, priorities, timing, and uncertainty while preserving an objective view of unconstrained demand.
- Challenge assumptions constructively, reconcile conflicting inputs, and facilitate fact-based decisions when stakeholder perspectives differ.
- Support new product introductions, product changes, geographic expansion, promotions, discontinuations, and other lifecycle events by incorporating timing, adoption, cannibalization, and uncertainty into the forecast.
- Maintain demand-planning parameters, product hierarchies, master-data inputs, calendars, history adjustments, and documented assumptions needed for reliable system outputs.
- Prepare concise executive-ready summaries of forecast outlook, material changes, performance trends, risks, opportunities, scenarios, and decisions required.
- Lead root-cause analysis for material forecast misses and drive sustainable improvements to demand-planning processes, data quality, governance, tools, and operating mechanisms.
- Coach planning partners and contribute to scalable analytical methods, templates, forecast segmentation, exception management, and demand-planning best practices.
- Operate in accordance with applicable quality, regulatory, compliance, and company requirements; escalate demand risks that could affect customers or patients.
Experience and Minimum Qualifications - 8 +years of progressive experience in demand planning, forecasting, sales and operations planning, integrated business planning, commercial analytics, or related supply chain roles.
- Experience owning demand forecasts across multiple products, customers, geographies, channels, or lifecycle stages.
- Demonstrated experience leading consensus demand reviews, resolving conflicting inputs, and influencing cross-functional decisions.
- Experience with statistical forecasting, forecast-performance analysis, scenario modeling, and executive-level decision support.
- Experience with ERP, advanced planning, demand-planning, business-intelligence, and data-analysis tools; advanced Microsoft Excel capability is strongly preferred.
- Experience in a regulated, medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other quality-controlled environment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Advanced knowledge of demand planning, statistical forecasting, forecast segmentation, consensus planning, and product lifecycle management.
- Ability to combine quantitative analysis with commercial and market intelligence to develop an objective, explainable demand outlook.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including trend analysis, seasonality, outlier treatment, scenario modeling, root-cause analysis, and exception management.
- Working knowledge of forecast accuracy, bias, forecast value add, demand variability, service, inventory, capacity, and financial-planning relationships.
- Ability to distinguish unconstrained demand from supply-constrained outcomes and clearly communicate the implications of each.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations for functional leaders and executives.
- Strong facilitation, stakeholder-management, and influencing skills in a matrixed environment.
- High attention to detail, ownership, prioritization, and follow-through across multiple planning horizons and competing business inputs.
- Continuous-improvement mindset with the ability to standardize work, strengthen governance, and improve forecast transparency and accountability.
- Comfort working with ambiguity, changing priorities, and incomplete information while maintaining sound judgment and a patient-first perspective.
