Position DescriptionEmployees in this position are responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative operations of a clinical department. Persons in this position must exercise a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, and should have a general knowledge of Health Sciences Center policies and procedures as they relate to department financial management and personnel administration. Provide direct supervision to department staff personnel. Work is performed under usual office conditions; deadlines, meetings and maybe some travel. Additionally, work requires considerable contact and coordination with HSC administrative officials, administrative personnel of other departments and units, granting agencies, other institutions, and government organizations.
Major/Essential Functions- Direct personnel operations, including hiring, coaching, promotions, corrective action, policy compliance, time and attendance administration, and staff development.
- Lead strategic planning, marketing initiatives, and service development in collaboration with the School of Medicine (SOM) central team.
- Establish quality and performance standards, oversee patient satisfaction initiatives, and support pay-for-performance and healthcare quality programs.
- Manage departmental operations, contracts, education, and research initiatives in partnership with the Executive Associate Dean.
- Promote fairness, confidentiality, and faculty engagement while supporting operational, educational, and research priorities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain appropriate staffing, equipment, and inventory levels.
- Develop strategic growth initiatives, address performance concerns, strengthen physician relationships, and identify business development opportunities.
- Oversee the utilization and continuous improvement of EMR systems in collaboration with SOM Clinical Transformation teams, clinical staff, and providers.
- Coordinate participation in government and commercial quality and value-based programs with SOM Quality Improvement, Clinical Transformation, Clinical Operations, and Finance and Planning teams.
- Develop marketing strategies to increase patient volumes in partnership with TTUHSC Communications and Marketing and SOM Clinical Market Development teams.
- Coordinate reports, marketing collateral, website updates, social media content, and community outreach efforts with the SOM Marketing Team.
- Facilitate the operational and financial review of faculty positions and support patient volume growth for newly hired SOM faculty and providers.
Preferred Qualifications- 5-7 years of progressive administrative leadership experience in an academic medical center, physician group practice, or complex healthcare environment.
- Experience in principles and fundamentals relating to budgeting, accounting, recordkeeping, and business writing. Strong analytical and financial acumen with a data-driven decision-making style.
- Experience leading change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience collaborating across diverse stakeholders in a complex institutional environment.
- Experience in project management and enterprise systems (ERP, HRIS, EMR, etc.).
- Experience in multi-department management, strategic planning, financial oversight, and team leadership.
- Experience working within a matrixed academic reporting structure.
- Experience and/or knowledge of physician revenue cycle, ambulatory operations, academic medical center governance, and higher education policies.
- Certification in Healthcare Management (e.g., FACHE, CMPE) or equivalent.

Required QualificationsEducation: Master's degree in health care administration or a business- related area.
Experience: Three years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of the principles and fundamentals relating to budgeting, accounting, recordkeeping, and business writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; knowledge of general administrative procedures that apply to functions such as personnel, payroll, and purchasing; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to exercise judgment in unusual or new situations, and able to exercise discretion when processing confidential material.
Visa InformationTTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions.
