Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Sr. Casualty Claims Counsel on our US Casualty Claims team.

What you'll be doing:
Direct handle primary & excess Casualty claims involving emerging risks, potential long-term exposure, or significant coverage issues.
Apply and demonstrate strong technical knowledge, legal insights, accuracy, and responsiveness on claim files with a high degree of customer service.
Analyze liability, damage, and coverage issues, develop successful litigation and resolution strategies, establish appropriate reserves on files.
Timely identify and elevate potential large losses and communicate effectively with internal and external business partners.
What you'll bring:
5+ years experience in an insurance-related technical claims position with an emphasis on addressing coverage issues presented by long term exposure and/or emerging risk issues
Juris Doctorate required and prior insurance carrier experience preferred.
Insurance related professional designations/education such as CPCU, IIA & SCLA a plus
Excellent writing, analytical, presentation and communication skills, with the ability to establish close working relationship with internal Sompo stakeholders
Some travel required
Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
