The Sr. Capital Asset Accountant work encompasses the management and oversight of Red Wing Shoe Company's capital assets and leases and serves to support the analysis and project management aspects of the capital process. Specifically, this role will ensure the Company's fixed asset, intangible asset and lease-related balances are properly accounted for to ensure accurate financial information is delivered in an efficient and timely manner allowing the business to achieve its strategic initiatives. In addition, the Sr. Capital Asset Accountant will be a key cross-functional leader in the capital management process, from budget to completion, partnering with members of the business and PMO to ensure their capital needs are met, measured, and executed timely and on budget. The successful candidate will be highly motivated with a strong focus on detail, processes, automation, and customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Manage fixed asset and lease accounting activities, including transaction processing, depreciation, reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Maintain accurate fixed asset and lease records, ensuring appropriate classification, capitalization, and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations, analyses, forecasts, and management reporting related to capital assets and leases.
- Partner with business leaders to support capital planning, capital expenditure requests, budgeting, forecasting, and project tracking.
- Support internal and external audit activities, financial statement disclosures, and implementation of new accounting requirements.
- Identify and lead process improvements that enhance the effectiveness, accuracy, and compliance of capital asset and lease accounting processes.
QualificationsREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- Bachelor's Degree (B.A/B.S.) in the area of Finance, Accounting or a related field from an accredited College or University helpful, but not required.
- 5-7 years of experience in public accounting or corporate accounting and month-end close functions with progressive responsibility
- Experience with fixed asset and lease accounting
- Experience driving process improvements, including the automation of processes through the leveraging of technology
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and experience with financial systems, as well as the ability to optimize business technology tools to improve business processes.
