OverviewSenior Calibration Technician is the highest-level technician position within Transcat with a minimum of six (6) years commercial calibration experience preferred. Calibration Technicians at this level typically can calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust higher-level equipment across a minimum of eight (8) disciplines, with expert knowledge in three (3) disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional, or Pressure). Proficiency and expertise are determined in accordance with Transcat's technician skills progression matrix. A Senior Calibration Technician will be capable of completing work independently within the lab or onsite at a customer location, with limited or no guidance. CCT or CMT certification is desired for this role.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform calibration work with little to no supervision
- Conduct independent research when necessary
- Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from the service manager
- Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques
- Maintain calibration standards
- Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made
- Read and interpret labs' scopes of accreditation
- Work effectively with lab support staff
- Working knowledge and competency in eight (8) disciplines and expert in three (3) disciplines preferred
- Perform calibrations within a laboratory or customer onsite setting
- Work at customer on-sites with little to no direction
- Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards
- Other duties as assigned
- Travel requirement: up to 50% of work schedule
Primary Objectives- Call upon high-level skills, techniques, and processes to calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust a high volume of high-level equipment with few errors
- Coordinate work schedule for the lab
- Prepare detailed analysis of calibration processes and uncertainties
- Develop and implement process improvements
- Develop team lead skills and responsibilities
- Train and advise lower-level technicians
- Deliver on Transcat's Quality Policy (QAC-F01-001)
QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications- Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom led instruction
- Elite interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes
- Ability to take direction and learn from feedback
- Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team
- 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver's license and acceptable driver history
Education and ExperienceRequired: Associates degree from college or technical school; or six+ (6+) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred:
- Six+ (6+) years of commercial calibration experience
- CCT or CMT certification
- Extensive statistical background
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Advanced organizational and time management skills
- Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics
