Role Summary

As a Senior Business Development Associate II, you will help expand SSR's client relationships, market presence, and growth opportunities across regions, markets, and business units. You will serve as a strategic connector among clients and SSR leaders, translating market intelligence and client needs into focused business development strategies. This role is designed for an experienced business development professional who can independently lead complex pursuits, build meaningful relationships, influence stakeholders, and advance high-value opportunities from identification through pursuit.

What You'll Do

Lead strategic business development, relationship-building, and pursuit efforts that strengthen SSR's pipeline and market position.
  • Develop and execute regional and market business development strategies aligned with SSR's growth goals and SSROne objectives.
  • Lead business development meetings and strategic growth initiatives across markets, regions, client accounts, and business units.
  • Build and deepen client and partner relationships, develop net-new relationships, and convert market signals into qualified opportunities.
  • Own opportunity follow-up and relationship development, moving prospects from initial identification through pursuit and transition to Project Managers and Operations.
  • Generate and significantly influence new opportunities that contribute to pipeline growth and revenue.
  • Lead multi-business-unit pursuits for significant opportunities, including opportunities with anticipated SSR fees of $5M or greater.
  • Shape pursuit strategy, positioning, and core messaging for proposals and presentations, partnering with Marketing on contributors, timelines, content, and reviews.
  • Maintain accurate CRM and pursuit data, using dashboards, reports, market research, competitive benchmarking, and industry analysis to inform strategy.
  • Represent SSR at client meetings, conferences, networking functions, industry associations, and boards to expand relationships, visibility, and business opportunities.
  • Provide Regional Directors, Market Sector leaders, Project Managers, and Operations with market intelligence, relationship insights, and recommendations that support growth.

Who We're Looking For

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8-12+ years of experience in business development, marketing, sales support, proposals, or a related field, preferably in architecture, engineering, consulting, or technical services.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing new client or partner relationships and converting those relationships into qualified business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex pursuits involving multiple stakeholders, teams, and/or business units.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage strategic business development initiatives and client relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of business development practices, client relationship management, pursuit strategy, and the consulting/technical services industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to turn technical information, client needs, and market intelligence into compelling client-focused narratives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with experience using CRM, pursuit tracking, and business development systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex priorities, exercise sound judgment with limited supervision, and collaborate effectively across teams and business units.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, competitive positioning, and growth drivers within architecture, engineering, consulting, and technical services.
