As
Sr. AI Engineer I, you'll design secure, scalable, cloud-enabled architectures that modernize legacy Marine Corps systems and enable AI-assisted code conversion. This role partners closely with customers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate mission requirements into achievable technical solutions, select appropriate frameworks and platforms, and guide implementation across AI/ML, data, cloud, DevSecOps, and legacy modernization efforts.
What you'll do:• Serve as a technical advisor to customers and internal teams, explaining architecture decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and implementation options to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Recommend cloud, data, AI/ML, and DevSecOps patterns that align with government security and operational requirements.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and constraints, and develop practical mitigation strategies.
• Build and update hybrid deterministic-agentic AI pipelines using frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex to orchestrate modular, multi-step workflows.
• Fine-tune large language models for instruction-following, code synthesis, and domain-specific adaptation.
• Integrate code-as-data paradigms (ASTs, control/data flow graphs) to improve model explainability and trust.
• Create scalable, secure, and efficient AI architectures, selecting appropriate frameworks, algorithms, and cloud platform
What you'll need to succeed:• 5+ years overall experience building AI, ML, or data science applications
• 2+ years of experience in AI system design
• Strong grasp of model context protocol (MCP) to standardize how models interact with APIs and external data sources, including legacy code bases.
• Strong proficiency in Java for implementing machine learning algorithms, data processing pipelines, or integrating AI components into production systems.
• Excellent proficiency in Python, API development, and secure system design.
• An active Secret Security clearance
