Why is this Role Important at Genesee Scientific?The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for performing a wide range of accounting and financial reporting duties, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and company policies. This role will play a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes and controls.
Requirements
What will you do:- Manage and execute key month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks
- Manage accounting transactions and implement system solutions to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting
- Build cross-functional relationships across departments to support company initiatives, ensuring adherence to policies; identify and escalate key issues to senior leadership, partnering to drive problem-solving and decision-making
- Recommend and implement changes to strengthen the internal control environment
- Contribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses as needed
- Oversee the processing of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring transactions are recorded correctly and reconciled regularly
What you will bring:- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
- CPA certification required
- 5+ years of experience in accounting field, 3 years in public accounting preferred
- Strong understanding of financial accounting standards and internal controls
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems such as Sage
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data
- Experience in implementing and improving business processes and systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with effective communication skills

Salary Description
Starting Salary at $95,000.00
