Job Title: Specialist, Procurement

Job Location: San Leandro, CA (This position is 100% onsite)

Business Unit: Randtron

Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off.

Position Summary:

The Specialist, Procurement, plans and implements activities related to the procurement of raw materials, goods and services. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Approves and qualifies vendors, obtains quotes, examines bids and makes awards. Follows up on all awards through completion of order. Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, and maintains necessary records. May prepare request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages. Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes. Follows applicable anti-corruption ethics, laws, and regulations.

Experienced professional with proficient knowledge of job area and practical knowledge of project management. May manage projects or processes with general supervision. Communicates with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures. Recommends enhancements to systems and processes. Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience purchasing machined parts, electronic components, PCBAs, raw materials, or specialized manufacturing services.
  • Strategic sourcing and supplier development.
  • Cost analysis and price negotiation.
  • APICS (ASCM) or ISM Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Deltek Costpoint, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Experience working with and managing vendors, expediting purchase orders, following up on passed due purchase orders.
  • May have practical knowledge of project management.
  • Experience in defense, ITAR and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) plus.
  • Cross-functional collaboration.
  • Problem solving and decision making.
  • Time management, prioritization and strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a future Security Clearance is required for the role. Eligibility requires U.S. Citizenship.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $71,500 - $132,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
