Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor's Degree and/or Masters in the content area
- Certification: Must possess or be eligible for one of the following CTSDE Certifications (165/065/265) Comprehensive Special Education, PreK-12
Salary: Salary, work year and working conditions will be in accordance with the current contract between the Board of Education and the Suffield Educators Association (Salary Range $51,730-114,405).
Benefits: This full-time school-year position is eligible for benefits in accordance with the applicable Teachers collective bargaining agreement and District plan terms. Benefits may include health insurance, retirement benefits, paid leave, and other fringe benefits. Eligibility and benefit levels are governed by applicable plan documents and the collective bargaining agreement. Reports to: Building Administrator/Director of Special Services
Position Expectations:
- Ability to design instruction to meet the needs of all students through small group/co-taught settings in alignment with the general education curriculum.
- Ability to administer, analyze and interpret comprehensive academic and social emotional evaluations.
- Demonstrated ability to write accurate and thorough assessment reports, IEP's and progress reports.
- Ability to positively engage teachers, students and families in the learning process.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to improve learning for all students.
- Ability to use data to make instructional decisions.
- Ability to build organizational capacity around best practices, literacy instruction and intervention based on our continuous improvement work.
- Demonstrates knowledge of special education regulations and guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to assess student learning on a continual basis and identify areas of intervention if needed.
