Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's and/or Masters Degree in the content area.
  • Must hold current CT Teaching certification with K-12 Special Education Endorsement.
  • Wilson Training preferred

Salary:
  • Salary, work year and working conditions will be in accordance with the current contract language between the Board of Education and the Pomperaug Education Association. Salary range: $55,834 - $111,010

Period of Employment:
  • Beginning with 2026/2027 School Year

Reports to:
  • Director of Student Services, Department Chair and Building Principal

Essential Functions:
  • Develop and implement accurate and thorough individualized educational programs to meet the social, behavioral and emotional needs of the students assigned to the program.
  • Provide students the consistent kind/firm structure and support they need in the classroom in order to be successful academically, socially and behaviorally.
  • Work closely with the student's counselors, the school psychologist, school nurse and high school administrators to provide students the help they need to learn how to overcome or cope with social/emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Use data to make effective instructional decisions.
