Full Job Description
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Plans and chairs annual review meetings for students.
  • Collects data on student goals and reports on student goals.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and progress reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures, special education regulations, and applicable laws
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Administers formalized achievement testing for students as part of re-evaluation or initial evaluations.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Special Education Director, principal, or Designee.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Holds a Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Special Needs, Grades 9 to 12
  • Holds an SEI endorsement, dual certification in ESL, or qualifies for such certification

Salary is determined by education and experience, ranging from Bachelor's (Step 1) $63,217 to Doctorate (Step 14) $133,922 (This range is based on a 1.0 FTE).
