About the RoleWe are looking for a
Software Engineering Team Lead to join our growing team and drive the deployment and evolution of our MarTech platform and solutions. This is a hands-on leadership role-ideal for someone who still loves to ship code but is equally passionate about tackling client challenges, shaping technical direction, and collaborating cross-functionally. As a Team Lead, you'll lead the engineering group of a cross-functional team composed of software engineers, a product manager, and UX/design. Our product is used by marketing teams in regulated industries across the world. You will serve as a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), partnering with the core client team and our platform team on long-term architecture, collaborating with Product Managers on roadmap planning, and working with other Team Leads across the organization to ensure cohesion and scalability in everything we build.
Responsibilities:- Serve as a Technical Subject Matter Expert for our product, owning the technical direction and quality of solutions designed and deployed.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation, including extended integrations with client technology and data systems beyond the immediate project scope.
- Own the ongoing reliability and effectiveness of our product.
- Contribute directly to our MarTech platform's priorities and roadmap, working with our internal engineering team on technical architecture and long-term planning so they are always aligned with the needs and vision for our client engagement.
- Mentor other engineers on the team to support their professional growth and technical development.
- Drive good engineering practices and processes, such as blameless post-mortems and automated testing, to ensure software stability and quality.
About YouThe essentials:- 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally across the full stack.
- 3+ years of people management experience (Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, or similar).
- Experience designing secure, scalable systems end-to-end.
- Hands-on experience with TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, and React.
- Comfortable in a hybrid technical/data role, bridging engineering and data-driven decision-making.
- Solid understanding of secure integrations, API authentication, and OAuth 2.0 flows.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm in production.
- Familiarity with domain-driven design or clean architecture patterns.
- Experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex) to build software solutions.
Not a must, but a plus:- Background working in high-compliance environments (HIPAA, SOC2, etc.).
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure as code tools.
- Prior experience bootstrapping teams or greenfield systems.
- Prior experience building products.

This role is subject to our Return to Office (RTO) policy. If you reside within a commutable distance of one of our office locations, you will be expected to work from the office a set number of days per week. The specific details, including the number of required office days, will be in accordance with the company's then-current RTO policy, which is subject to change from time to time.
Monks has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting. Monks may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on job-related factors, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
Salary Range
$130,000-$160,000 CAD
