Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Software Engineering Associate Manager to lead a high performing group of 7-12 software engineers for the Space Protection Programs portfolio. As a Level 4 Associate Manager, you will play a critical role in leading and managing a team focused on delivery of satellite software applications for both Terran Orbital and LM SMARTSat systems for various programs and Research & Development initiatives. Your team will be responsible for application layer apps and modules as well as low level embedded firmware code. This role will be both functionally responsible for direct reports as well as have program responsibilities. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the successful development, integration, and delivery of the program's complex systems and subsystems.
Coordinate and reach out across the program pro-actively to coordinate and resolve complex technical issues affecting lab operations.
Manages software development activities. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees the design, development, documentation, and testing of software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Ensures software standards are met.
Basic Qualifications
3Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education7
3Background in embedded software development with C++ or similar language7
3Understanding of Satelite and/or realtime systems software7
3Previous experience leading or supervising small teams as a technical leader, development lead, product owner, etc7
3Basic understanding of Earned Value Manangement principles7
Desired Skills
3Experience with Terran Orbital small sat or similar space-based systems7
3Experience with Lockheed Martin SMARTSat space-based software framework7
3Previous technical or functional leadership experience7
3Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including IEEE, ISO, and DoD standards7
3Experience with developing software roadmaps7
3Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and identify technical risks7
3Proficiency with Jira and Structure, Gitlab, CI/CD7
3Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in complex technical environments7
3Proficiency in writing software design documentation7
3Cross-functional engineering experience, such as Systems Engineering7
3Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills7

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $135700.00 - $251900.00
The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market(work location) and business considerations when extending an offer.

3Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
3For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
