General Summary:Job OverviewThe Central Hardware Systems (CHS) PCB CAD teams design cutting-edge printed circuit boards across Qualcomm's most strategic platforms - spanning Mobile, Automotive, Infrastructure, IoT, Compute, and R&D. The successful candidate will become part of the CHS QCAE team who are responsible for global management of all the PWB EDA tools. As a Staff Engineer your role will include support for global tool deployment, development of detailed process automation, design services, methodology support, project consulting and evaluation of new EDA tools.
CHS QCAE supports tools such as Cadence Allegro, Siemens Xpedition, Siemens Pads, Siemens Valor and other Design & Manufacturing EDA tools used for in-house printed circuit board development
Role / Skills / Exp- Full proficiency on various board layout tools including Cadence Allegro and Siemens Xpedition.
- Substantial exposure to schematic entry tools including OrCAD CIS, Concept HDL, and Xpedition Designer
- End - End knowledge of Schematic and Layout design flows.
- Experience in running DFM (Design for Manufacturing) analysis and validation on Gerber / ODB++ data for PCB fabrication
- Coding experience in customizing EDA tools and processes using VB Script / Python / Cadence Skill or Ravel / Java and or Perl programming languages.
- Evaluate PCB design trade-offs necessary to meet design requirements and produce high-quality, cost-effective boards that meet project schedule objectives
- Maintain technical coordination with Engineering and CAD; resolve PCB design issues.
- Understand and apply PCB technology and process trends to Qualcomm designs
- Communicate effectively with project peers and engineering personnel via e-mail and Teams meetings, including regular status reports and presentation slides
- Understand project goals and individual contribution toward those goals
Minimum Qualifications- Experience with electronic file exchanges between PCB and mechanical software tools
- Understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes, capabilities, and limitations
- Familiarity with PCB design practices and industry standards
- Understanding of PCB stack-up development and controlled impedance requirements.
- Experience installing EDA tools and libraries
- Associate's degree in electronics, electrical technology, or a related technical field preferred
Preferred Qualifications- 7+ years actively involved in supporting electrical engineering design tools such as Siemens Xpedition, Cadence Allegro, or PADS
- 4+ years developing automation in Xpedition and / or Allegro tools using any of following languages: VB Script, Perl, Python, Java, Skill or Ravel
- Experience maintaining Siemens ICDB servers
- Understanding of PCB via technology types: through-hole, blind, buried, and micro-via
- Awareness of power and signal integrity design practices and analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and / or Electrical Engineering
Education Requirements- Minimum Associate's degree in a electronics or related technical field
- Preferred Bachelors in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits: $134,800.00 - $202,200.00
