We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer with a strong focus on Power BI development to join our Central Data Engagement and Reporting team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable data models, interactive dashboards, and reporting solutions that empower stakeholders across the organization to make data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate combines solid software engineering fundamentals with deep expertise in the Power BI ecosystem, including data modeling, SQL, DAX, and integration with enterprise data sources. Job Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that meet business and stakeholder requirements.
- Build and optimize data models using Power BI, including star schemas, relationships, and calculated measures using DAX.
- Load data from various sources (SQL databases, Databricks, APIs, cloud data warehouses, flat files) into Power BI datasets.
- Write efficient SQL queries and stored procedures to support reporting and analytics needs.
- Collaborate with business analysts, product managers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Implement and maintain data governance practices within Power BI to ensure proper access controls.
- Optimize report performance, including query optimization, incremental refresh strategies, and dataset size management.
- Integrate Power BI solutions with other tools and platforms (e.g., Databricks, SharePoint, Excel, Power Automate, Power Apps).
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and version control practices (e.g., Power BI deployment pipelines, Git) to ensure quality and consistency.
- Document data models, ETL processes, and report specifications for maintainability and knowledge sharing.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data refresh failures, performance issues, and data accuracy discrepancies.
- Contribute to establishing BI development standards and best practices.
- Stay current with Power BI updates, new features, and industry best practices, and recommend improvements to existing BI processes.
Work Experience / Skill Sets- 2+ years in software engineering, data engineering, or business intelligence development
- 2+ years hands-on experience developing solutions in Power BI (Desktop, Service, Report Builder), including complex DAX
- Strong SQL skills: writing advanced queries, optimization, stored procedures, views
- Power BI integration with Azure (Synapse, Azure SQL Database, Databricks)
- Understanding of data modeling concepts: star/snowflake schemas, normalization/denormalization, data warehousing
- Familiarity with data visualization best practices and UX principles for dashboards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative mindset with experience working cross-functionally
- Self-motivated with a continuous learning orientation toward emerging BI tools and techniques
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field

Pay information:The salary range for this position is $74,320 - $127,710. The posted salary range reflects the lowest and highest base salary applicable to this role across our U.S. locations. Individual offers are determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related factors. As a result, the salary offered for a specific location will fall within a narrower range than the overall range displayed in this posting. This position may also be eligible to participate in the Company's annual incentive plan.
