Full Job Description
The role
  • Rainmaker is hiring a Software Engineer to own our production infrastructure and security.
Your scope includes cloud infrastructure, deployments, observability, identity and access, secrets, vulnerability management, incident response, and recovery. You will build remote systems that work 24/7 and accommodate lost comms. Storms do not wait for business hours.

What you'll do
  • Own production infrastructure end to end, setting the standards for how services get deployed, monitored, and recovered.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and test infrastructure for rapid agentic development.
  • Balance rigor and security with the need for engineers to move quickly.
  • Work across software, science, aircraft engineering, and field operations.

What we're looking for
  • A software engineer with experience building production infrastructure.
  • Fast, thoughtful, autonomous, and opinionated.
  • Willing to relocate to El Segundo, CA.
  • Built and operated production systems. We care more about what you have shipped than your degree or years in the industry.
  • Deep familiarity with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Pulumi or Terraform.
  • Managed secrets and credential lifecycles in a fast-moving environment.
  • Designed or maintained zero-trust, WireGuard-based networks; we run almost everything on Tailscale.

What success looks like
  • You will understand all of Rainmaker's critical systems, data flows, access model, and largest operational and security risks and have shipped at least one material improvement. Within your first year, critical services will be easier to deploy, observe, secure, and recover. Software capabilities should scale faster than requisite operational effort.

Benefits
  • Significant stock options with high potential upside as an early-stage company
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Full health coverage (medical, dental, and vision insurance)
  • Relocation assistance provided (if applicable)
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Paid parental leave for both parents
  • Lunch provided when working in-office and a fully stocked kitchenette
