Software Engineer
Location: Remote / Alexandria, VA
Clearance: Active TS/SCI or eligibility to be cleared
GeoDelphi, Inc. dba Whitespace is seeking a dynamic and innovative Software Engineer to build cutting-edge solutions within our Iris platform. You'll be essential to the digital offering which is broken into a technological stack that is comprised of a source, engine, analytic, and a story layer. The engineering team is the technological backbone of the Iris platform working in the 'engine layer' to discover the ground truth. You'll work with a team of engineers and developers designing tools to provide technical solutions to complex questions. The ideal candidate is creative, a problem solver, developer, designer, and appreciates delivering high-quality products. This position will report to the VP of Engineering.
This position is 100% remote! It does require 10% travel to the DMV region. The candidate MUST be a US citizen and reside in the contiguous United States. The candidate must be a W2 employee of GeoDelphi, Inc. No 3rd party applications.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, implement, and maintain application phases.
Contribute in all phases of the development life cycle

Prepare and produce releases of software components

Support formal testing and resolve test defects

EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a software engineering role
Expert with at least one language and desire good experience with several others (Python, React, Java, etc.)
Experience with public clouds such as AWS, Google, Rackspace
Experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software
Strong coding abilities emphasizing quality and testability in your work.
Strong understanding of DevOps and software/application development processes
Demonstrated experience with continuous integration and software CM processes/tools (GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus, and other DevOps/Continuous Integration tools)
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimization
Experience acquiring client requirements and resolving workflow problems through automation optimization
Demonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problems
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within small teams
DESIRED SKILLS
Experience interacting with AWS SDK, AWS API, AWS CLI, and AWS CloudFormation
Experience with population simulation, or other data simulation
Experience with geospatial engineering
Experience with Big Data processing tools, such as Spark/Hadoop, Google's BigQuery, AWS's Athena and EMR
