Full Job Description
Are you a technology leader and innovator interested in owning business-critical identity infrastructure that authenticates and authorizes over 3 million Amazonians every day? We have an opportunity for a Software Development Manager in Amazon Foundational Security Services (AFSS), and we're looking for a leader ready to own and evolve Amazon's on-premises Active Directory service.

Amazon Foundational Security Services (AFSS) owns the service portfolio that provides enterprise capabilities for authentication, authorization, directory management, and public key infrastructure (PKI). This includes Amazon's on-premises Active Directory, and the Corporate PKI Service. We work very closely with additional Cloud IDPs, including Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), Google Workspace and AWS Identity Center (IDC). We enable the authentication and authorization needs of every Amazonian: logging into their laptops, authenticating to enterprise services like Exchange, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365, and authorizing access to shared resources such as GitFarm, wiki pages, and Workdocs.

As a Software Development Manager, you will bring strong people/project/program management capabilities, and a good exposure to Identity and Access management concepts (SAML, OAuth2, FIDO2), and Cloud Identity systems (Active Directory, Azure AD, Google Workspace, Okta etc.)

Key job responsibilities
• Own end-to-end delivery and operational health of Amazon's on-premises Active Directory service, supporting authentication and authorization for millions of Amazonians, and providing directory services to millions of devices.
• Lead a team building and rolling out identity and access management capabilities across global regions.
• Proactively partner across business groups and security partners inside Amazon, building and running cross-functional projects that implement secure systems and security controls at scale.
• Drive Amazon's growing footprint across Cloud IDPs (e.g. Azure AD/Entra ID), bringing deep systems and domain experience in these platforms.
• Build Infrastructure as Code and DevOps tooling to drive efficiency and quality across the directory service.
• Create and evolve enterprise infrastructure and security standards, and ensure systems adhere to them.
• Review and implement system changes using thorough test plans, and drive operational excellence for services your team owns.
• Translate security recommendations into business terms (and vice versa), and regularly brief Amazon leadership on security posture and initiatives.
• Make sound two-way-door decisions under pressure, with the backbone to safeguard Amazon's systems, and the ownership to see decisions through.
• Proactively work across different business groups and security partners in Amazon, and build/run cross-functional projects.
