Job Title
Software Development Engineering, Sr Advisor

About your role

At Fiserv, we are committed to transforming financial services technology to deliver innovative solutions for our clients. As a senior individual contributor and technical leader, you will play a critical role in shaping the design, development, and evolution of high-quality software solutions that support our LATAM partners. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, client-focused solutions that align with business objectives and strategic priorities.

In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for designing, developing, and evolving the cloud-native Vision NEXT platform - Fiserv's next-generation, cloud-native card issuing and payment processing platform built on microservices, APIs, and event-driven architecture - leveraging APIs, event-driven architectures, AWS services, and real-time authorization capabilities. You will provide technical leadership, drive innovation, and influence architectural direction while ensuring operational excellence across the platform.

What you'll do
  • Lead the architecture, design, development, and implementation of software applications supporting Fiserv's Vision NEXT platform.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Ensure high standards for coding, testing, debugging, performance, security, and application reliability.
  • Author technical specifications that development teams can build from, translating architecture into clear, actionable designs.
  • Define environment promotion criteria that go beyond code quality - including performance, security, resilience, and operational readiness - and establish them as formal quality gates.
  • Set standards for API test automation and quality gates (RestAssured, Karate, Postman/Newman) across teams.
  • Own the platform's REST and event-driven integration patterns - RabbitMQ, webhooks, and retry/idempotency design - at enterprise scale.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers across teams, helping to elevate overall technical capabilities.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor and subject matter expert for Vision NEXT platform initiatives and client engagements.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to clients, executive leadership, global teams, and CIO-level stakeholders.
  • Champion best practices in cloud-native development, system scalability, operational resilience, and continuous improvement.
  • Influence technical roadmaps, solution strategies, and architectural decisions across multiple initiatives.

Experience you'll need to have
  • 12+ years of experience in software development, solution delivery, software architecture, or related technology disciplines.
  • 7+ years of experience providing technical leadership, architecture guidance, or serving as a lead engineer on complex enterprise initiatives.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with Java, C, C#, C++, or similar object-oriented programming languages.
  • Deep expertise in Java/Spring Boot, with the ability to set coding and architectural standards across teams.
  • 7+ years of experience working with SQL databases and data management solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions utilizing AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • 3+ years of experience working within Agile development environments and methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and/or military experience totaling 15+ years.

Experience that would be great to have
  • Experience within the financial services, payments, banking, or fintech industry.
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures, event-driven systems, APIs, and real-time processing platforms.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead, architect, or principal engineer on enterprise-scale platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership in evaluating, adopting, and governing AI engineering tools, with real production examples of AI-accelerated delivery and responsible-use standards.
  • Architectural familiarity with container orchestration platforms - Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift - for cloud-native deployment, scalability, and operational resilience.
  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with VisionPLUS, Vision NEXT, or large-scale card processing platforms.

Important information about this role
  • This is a fully onsite position, Monday through Friday. Fiserv believes in the value of in-person collaboration, which supports effective onboarding, drives innovation, strengthens teamwork, and enhances overall productivity.
