Full Job Description
About the Team

Twitch Security Platform builds and operates the foundational software, data, and automation that enable security at scale across Twitch. As a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) on the Security Platform team, you will design, build, and operate critical services, pipelines, and tooling that power Twitch's security, privacy, and compliance programs.
About the Role

Twitch Security Platform builds and operates the foundational software, data, and automation that enable security at scale across Twitch. As a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) on the Security Platform team, you will design, build, and operate critical services, pipelines, and tooling that power Twitch's security, privacy, and compliance programs.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, security, privacy, and data engineering, contributing production systems that handle large-scale security telemetry, automate security workflows, and provide reliable data and services to internal teams. You will partner closely with engineers and product teams to solve real-world security problems through well-designed software.

You will own projects end-to-end from design and implementation through deployment and operational support for the systems that are business-critical and highly visible. The problems you work on will span areas such as security data ingestion and processing, detection and response automation, service-to-service authentication, vulnerability management, and privacy engineering. This is a broad platform charter, and priorities shift as the security landscape does; you should be energized by a wide surface area and comfortable moving fluidly between systems rather than anchored to a single one.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working in ambiguous problem spaces, values operational excellence, enables peers, and wants to see their work directly improve Twitch's security posture at scale.

You can work from San Francisco, CA; Irvine, CA; or Seattle, WA.
You Will:
  • Own and deliver well-scoped software projects end-to-end, from design through production support.
  • Partner across Security, Identity, Privacy, and Infrastructure on Twitch-wide initiatives.
  • Drive operational excellence: observability, reliability, and operational readiness for critical systems.
  • Raise the engineering bar through design reviews, code reviews, clear technical decision-making and validation including AI-assisted output.
  • Participate in, retrospectives, and technical discussions, influencing decisions through technical leadership.
You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years building and operating production backend services with end-to-end ownership (design, deploy, operate).
  • Deep fluency in a modern language (Go, Java, Python, or similar).
  • Hands-on AWS: designing, deploying, and operating production services or pipelines, with IaC and safe rollout.
  • Comfort driving clarity in ambiguous, evolving problem spaces.
  • A track record of leading technical projects that span multiple services and parallel workstreams
  • Strong cross-team communication able to disagree with data and commit once decided.
Bonus Points
  • Full-stack experience ownership across backend APIs and frontend experiences.
  • Familiarity with security, data, and privacy systems, such as security or audit data lakes, cloud authentication and authorization flows, vulnerability scanning and remediation pipelines, and privacy or compliance-driven workflows (e.g., CCPA, GDPR-related controls).
  • Experience working with large-scale event or log data, including event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, or batch/streaming pipelines.
  • Experience integrating AI-assisted development or analysis tools into engineering workflows, such as using LLM-powered tooling, automation, or MCP-style platforms to improve developer productivity or system insight.
  • Familiarity with Twitch, either as a viewer or creator (or both!)
Perks
  • Medical, Dental, Vision & Disability Insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Maternity & Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO
  • Amazon Employee Discount

About Twitch

Twitch is an American video live streaming service that focuses on video game live streaming, including broadcasts of esports competitions, in addition to offering music broadcasts, creative content, and "in real life" streams. It is operated by Twitch Interactive, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. It was introduced in June 2011 as a spin-off of the general-interest streaming platform Justin.tv. Content on the site can be viewed either live or via video on demand. The popularity of Twitch eclipsed that of its general-interest counterpart. In October 2013, the website had 45 million unique viewers, and by February 2014, it was considered the fourth-largest source of peak Internet traffic in the United States. At the same time, Justin.tv's parent company was re-branded as Twitch Interactive to represent the shift in focus – Justin.tv was shut down in August 2014. That month, the service was acquired by Amazon for US$970 million, which later led to the introduction of synergies with the company's subscription service Amazon Prime. Twitch acquired Curse in 2016, an operator of online video gaming communities and introduced means to purchase games through links on streams along with a program allowing streamers to receive commissions on the sales of games that they play.
