We're looking for a Software Development Engineer to design and deliver solutions making it simpler for our field team to manage, maintain and operate at scale - we should provide products and solutions that help give our talented selling and marketing teams "superpowers" that let them focus on the customer and helping them drive their business. As a Software Development Engineer in the AFX Core Experiences team, you'll have a unique opportunity to shape the development of our services and positively affect our customers through our talented field team. You'll be chartered with creating and operating services that collect and store metrics at internet scale, deliver critical capabilities to the field and embed operational knowledge and encode best practices into everything we do. In addition, as part of the broader AWS organization, you will have the opportunity to influence the broader cloud strategy for Amazon. Key job responsibilities Design, develop, and operate scalable software and AI-powered agent services that help AWS sellers and partners work more effectively. Own features end-to-end - from design through implementation, code review, deployment, and operational support. Build and integrate agentic tooling and services (e.g. LLM-backed agents, MCP integrations, orchestration workflows) on top of Salesforce and internal AWS data sources. Collaborate with product managers, senior engineers, and partner teams to turn ambiguous requirements into robust, maintainable solutions. Write clean, well-tested code, participate actively in code reviews, and uphold high engineering and operational-excellence standards. Troubleshoot production issues, participate in on-call, and drive improvements to reliability, latency, and cost. Contribute to architectural decisions, help pay down technical debt, and adopt AI-augmented development practices to raise team velocity. Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and continuously raise the bar on quality and customer impact. A day in the life You'll start the day diving into building and integrating AI agent services and tooling used by AWS sellers and partners. You'll have team standup. You'll write and review code, pair with teammates to unblock work, and collaborate with product and partner teams to refine requirements. Expect a mix of hands-on coding, design discussions on agent orchestration and data integration, and operational ownership of the services you build. You'll work alongside engineers who invest in your growth, tackle ambiguous problems in a fast-moving AI space, and ship solutions that scale across the sales organization. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent - Experience working with customers with a passion for delivering exceptional service, or experience using strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills - Experience with AWS platforms, services, and design patterns - Experience mentoring or training the engineering community on complex technical issues - Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
