Software Developer to support ground software development for a satellite program. This role will work alongside engineers, program managers, and government stakeholders to design, develop, test, and maintain mission-critical ground software supporting space systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain ground software components in Python supporting satellite mission operations
- Collaborate with systems engineers, program managers, and government customers to translate mission requirements into software solutions
- Support the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, integration, test, and deployment
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and verification/validation activities to ensure flight software reliability and mission assurance
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and anomalies identified during development, integration, and on-orbit operations
- Support technical documentation, including design documents, test plans, and software interface specifications
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support satellite program milestones, reviews, and delivery schedules
- Adhere to applicable software development standards and mission assurance practices for space systems
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting flight software development
- Proficiency in Python and related systems
- Ability to work on-site full-time in Alexandria, VA
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering and program teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with satellite ground systems, spacecraft bus software, or mission operations software
- Familiarity with software development in a classified/SCIF environment
- Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, or Agile development practices
- Prior DoD or IC space program experience
Salary range for the position is $150,000 - $200,000 per year. Specific compensation will be determined by several factors including experience, education, skills, and knowledge. We also offer medical/dental/vision benefits and 401k contribution.
