Job Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Software Configuration Lead to oversee and manage the configuration, version control, build, release, and deployment processes for software and software-related products. The Software Configuration Lead will establish and maintain configuration management practices that ensure software products, source code, documentation, and associated artifacts are properly identified, versioned, controlled, and maintained throughout their lifecycle. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with software configuration management, version control, build and deployment processes, and configuration management tools. This position requires a self-motivated and detail-oriented professional who can work independently, collaborate effectively with software development and test teams, and manage multiple configuration management activities in a small team environment. Key Responsibilities: Software Configuration Management • Establish, implement, and maintain software configuration management processes, procedures, and standards. • Define and maintain configuration baselines for software products, source code, documentation, and associated configuration items. • Manage the identification, versioning, storage, and control of software configuration items throughout the development lifecycle. • Ensure configuration management practices are consistently applied across software development and maintenance activities. Version Control & Configuration Tracking • Manage and maintain software repositories, version control systems, and configuration management tools. • Track software versions, releases, branches, builds, and configuration items to ensure accurate and traceable records. • Establish and maintain baselines and ensure changes are properly documented and traceable to approved requirements or change requests. • Support the initial development and continued improvement of configuration management tracking processes and tools. Change & Release Management • Support and manage the software change control process, ensuring proposed changes are properly documented, reviewed, approved, and implemented. • Coordinate configuration changes across development, test, and release activities. • Support software release planning, installation, and deployment activities. • Ensure released software and associated documentation are properly identified, packaged, versioned, and maintained. • Identify opportunities to improve and automate software build, release, and deployment processes. Build & Deployment Support • Support automated software build and deployment processes using CI/CD tools and established development practices. • Work with software development teams to troubleshoot configuration, build, and deployment issues. • Maintain and improve build and release processes to promote consistency, repeatability, and traceability. • Support integration of configuration management practices into automated development and deployment pipelines. Audits & Compliance • Conduct configuration audits to verify the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of software configuration data. • Identify configuration discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions. • Maintain documentation and records necessary to demonstrate configuration control and traceability. • Support compliance with applicable program, security, and configuration management requirements. Stakeholder Collaboration • Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, test teams, program management, and other stakeholders to support effective configuration management. • Facilitate configuration and change control meetings as needed. • Prepare configuration management status reports, metrics, and documentation. • Serve as a subject matter resource for software configuration management processes and practices. Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of professional experience in software configuration management, release management, or a closely related discipline.
    • Experience managing software configuration items, baselines, version control, and software releases.
    • Experience working in a software development or engineering environment.
  • Clearance Requirement: Active TS with SCI eligibility
  • Required Technical Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with software configuration management and version control tools such as Jira, VersionOne, Git, and GitLab.
  • Experience with CI/CD, software build, and deployment tools such as Gradle, Maven, and Nexus.
  • Experience managing software repositories, branches, baselines, releases, and configuration items.
  • Working knowledge of software build and deployment processes.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
  • Experience with scripting or automation used to support software configuration, build, or deployment processes.
  • Strong understanding of software version control and configuration management principles.
  • Required Soft Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and configuration management activities simultaneously.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
  • Office environment with occasional on-site work in data centers or with hardware systems.
  • May require after-hours or weekend work to address critical system issues or deployments.
  • Some travel may be necessary to support system installations or meet with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of IT equipment or hardware components (up to 25 lbs).
Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, typically working 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required depending on operational needs.
