Full Job Description

Senior Supply Planner (Smartwool & icebreaker)

What will you do?

A day in the life of a Sr Supply Planner at icebreaker and Smartwool looks a little like this.

You will play a critical role in achieving financial targets by procuring supply to meet service and inventory objectives. You will ensure on-time delivery from vendors through close partnership with Global Supply Planning, Sourcing, Logistics, Demand Planning, Distribution, and Customer Service, while proactively managing capacity constraints and supply risks.

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

  • Own category-level supply planning and buy recommendations using demand inputs, current inventory, lead times, vendor capacity, MOQs/pack sizes, and buy readiness; create and route purchase requisitions in SAP to the Global Supply Planning team for execution.

  • Provide monthly supply outlook and Open-to-Buy inputs to Inventory Planning for assigned categories, including expected receipts, inventory position, and risks/opportunities.

  • Monitor demand and supply timing on an ongoing basis using SAP and Excel-based trackers; identify exceptions (potential stockouts, excess, past-due supply) and re-phase supply to improve customer service and meet inventory objectives.

  • Partner with Demand Planning during capacity or material constraints to align forecasts to feasible supply, recommend prioritization, and communicate impacts to availability.

  • Manage seasonal system set-up and line plan validation in partnership with Demand Planning, ensuring item readiness, assumptions alignment, and correct timing for seasonal flows.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Demand Planning, Inventory Planning, Finance, Commercial/Merchandising, Operations, Global Supply Planning) to support delivery of current-month financial objectives while balancing service, inventory, and cost.

  • Support service and inventory performance reporting with the Inventory Analyst; analyze trends and exceptions and drive follow-up actions to improve operational performance and business outcomes.

  • Provide department leadership and planning expertise to other planners and adjacent teams; recommend and implement process improvements, standard work, and planning best practices (SAP execution and Excel analysis).

  • Maintain a longer-term view of supply availability across assigned categories by product type; assess capacity, vendor constraints, and material risks, and recommend mitigation actions (timing shifts, pre-buys, prioritization, alternatives).

  • Participate in and/or lead key projects to evolve supply chain capabilities, including improvements to planning processes, SAP utilization, and Excel-based reporting/analytics.

  • Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as required to support leadership decisions, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What do you need to succeed?

We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or university with a concentration in Supply Chain or Business Management)), we are most interested in your 3+ years of experience in a corporate supply chain environment, ideally in demand & supply planning.
