Full Job Description
Performs tasks and provides services to support the plant's overall business plans and objectives as directed.
What you'll be doing:
• Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
• Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment. This includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions, participating in daily safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents, as required.
• Supports and follows the SQF (Safe Quality Food) guidelines of the food safety system.
• Follows company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), practices and Sonoco's Global Code of Conduct.
• Supervises and coordinates the employees and activities of the department/production function to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping standards are met or exceeded.
• Coordinates and conducts the on-the-job training and development of subordinates' skills to ensure a high level of production.
• Facilitates communications and dissemination of information between crew operations.
• Maintains production, spoilage, and downtime records.
• Leads problem solving sessions to solve production, quality and safety issues.
• Responsible for monitoring machine parts and supplies for production equipment as needed to maintain machinery.
• Evaluates products to ensure compliance with established quality standards.
• Reviews production schedules to ensure optimization.
• Furnishes work orders and schedules for maintenance corrective action.
• Initiates and reviews Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Job Safe Procedures (JSPs) for area of responsibility.
• Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department and plant location.
• Understands and responds effectively to EC directions during emergencies by being familiar with emergency procedures, equipment, and systems, as necessary. Implements contingency plan to the level required by the position.
• Understands, completes, and maintains environmental documentation for which the individual is trained. Reports to the EC, EFP, or EM on the status of assigned responsibilities.
• Recognizes waste streams and minimizes waste generation, through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation. Understands and practices proper accumulation and storage requirements for wastes.
• Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes
• Other duties as assigned.
This position is located at our Columbus, Ohio.

• Bachelors degree required.
• Experience with LEAN practices (5s, Kaizen, Standard Work, etc.) and problem solving.
• Broad experience is usually acquired through working in a manufacturing plant.
• Working knowledge of generally accepted supervisory practices and procedures.
• Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard plant production techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Proficient in implementing 5S principles for efficient workplace organization and process optimization.
• Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
• Ability to operate and functionally use the computer.
• Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data to make recommendations.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate, and pay attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively lead and train other employees.
• Ability to wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.
• Required to work assigned schedule of 12-hour shifts, Monday through Sunday, working hours may vary as specified by management. Incumbent must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by management.
• Broad training in a related field is usually acquired through a college degree or through equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of job-related experience
Compensation:
The annual base salary range for this role is from $93,600 to $105,300, plus a quarterly target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
