As a CSSO on AFMS 3.0 TO16, you will lead SCI/SAP security operations that enable secure, realistic joint and coalition training. You will ensure that classified operations across VJETTS facilities remain compliant, mission-ready, and aligned with AFAMS' strategic objectives.
VJETTS enables high-fidelity, joint-service training across the Air Force, Navy, Army, and coalition partners. AFMS 3.0 TO16 provides Security, IT, Engineering, and Integration support to sustain VJETTS' evolving infrastructure and ensure continuous operational readiness. The CSSO directly supports secure operations across SCIF/SAPF environments, enabling the delivery of interoperable, secure, and technically ready M&S environments.
You will join a multi-disciplinary team that includes Project Integrators, Network Architects, Systems & Network Administrators, Cybersecurity personnel, and AFMS3 Program Management Office support. Your CSSO role is a core security position embedded within day-to-day VJETTS activities.
The Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO) provides full-spectrum SCI and SAP security administration in support of AFMS 3.0 activities. This role ensures compliance with DoD, USAF, and program-specific security policies while supporting personnel vetting, access control, facility operations, cybersecurity coordination, inspections, and the protection of classified material across Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and Special Access Program Facilities (SAPFs). The CSSO works closely with program leadership, ISSMs/ISSOs, security managers, and government security offices to maintain secure operations, enable mission readiness, and ensure the integrity of all classified support functions.
In this role, you will:- Manage SCI/SAP nomination packages, indoctrinations, debriefs, and continuous vetting requirements.
- Maintain and update personnel security records; ensure accuracy in DISS and support visit requests (VARs).
- Maintain Program Access Lists (PALs) and all required SCI/SAP security documentation
- Track clearance eligibility, periodic reinvestigations, and program access rosters
- Support internal/external inspections, audits, and compliance monitoring for security hardening, accreditation, and RMF-related documentation.
- Ensure TO16 personnel meet all clearance and qualification requirements
- Draft, update, and maintain SOPs, Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), TEMPEST checklists, and local security procedures.
- Ensure updated security workflows and reporting standards aligned with NAWCTSD SSO direction
- Develop and maintain security standard operating procedures (SOPs) and continuity documentation.
- Oversee SCIF/SAPF operations, including alarm testing, access control, visitor management, and facility accreditation documentation.
- Conduct daily/weekly facility checks; ensure proper handling, storage, and destruction of classified materials.
- Coordinate facility updates, maintenance, and security equipment changes with government representatives.
- Maintain accountability and inventory of COMSEC materials, adhering to NSA and program-specific handling requirements.
- Support controlled cryptographic item (CCI) management, receipt, storage, transfer, and destruction processes.
- Partner with ISSM/ISSO teams supporting AFMS 3.0 to ensure alignment between physical, personnel, and cybersecurity controls.
- Assist with documentation, reporting artifacts, and security inputs for assessment and authorization (A&A) activities when required.
- Support classified meetings, VTCs, and mission events requiring special security oversight.
- Provide security guidance to program staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Respond to security incidents, investigate reports, and support after-action reviews.
- Coordinate with technical teams during VJETTS exercises, ensuring security readiness during pre-exercise setup, execution, troubleshooting, and post-exercise secure data handling.
To be successful in this role, you will have:- Active U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI eligibility, SAP eligibility.
- A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of industrial security experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Will consider HS diploma with 10 years of industrial security experience.
- Demonstrated experience in SCI/SAP security administration, including knowledge of ICDs, DoD Special Access Program guidance, and security best practices.
- Experience supporting SCIF/SAPF facility operations, incident reporting, and accreditation requirements.
- Familiarity with DISS and security documentation workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to brief leadership and coordinate with government security authorities.
- Ability to travel 10%
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Security Fundamental Professional Certification / Security Professional Education Development (SPēD) Certification.
- Experience supporting distributed training environments (LVC, DMO, joint exercises).
- Familiarity with VJETTS or similar high-fidelity modeling & simulation systems.
- Understanding of RMF/ATO processes and DISA STIGs (coordination with cybersecurity teams).
- DISS administration, visit requests, and personnel security record maintenance.
- Direct support to SCI/SAP programs and adherence to related regulatory frameworks.
- COMSEC accountability including inventories, handling, and destruction.
