Overview

Steampunk is looking for a ServiceNow Architect to support one of our federal customers. This leader will spearhead the effort to modernize the agency information security program. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who enjoys applying the latest technology to modernize enterprise IT delivery and risk management. The candidate must have a proven ability to learn quickly and leverage ServiceNow to solve real world problems and deliver solutions to promote security automation and process improvement.

 

Contributions
  • Serve as the ServiceNow technical lead and architect, with deep experience in ITSM, CMDB, scoped applications, and custom workflow development.

  • Lead a small team of ServiceNow developers, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship across varying experience levels.

  • Support CMDB maturity and governance; define roadmaps, validation processes, and standards for data integrity and automation.

  • Design and develop complex integrations using APIs, web services, and data connectors to ensure seamless interoperability between systems.

  • Oversee ServiceNow access control setup, alerting mechanisms, and maintenance of table relationships to ensure platform stability and security.

  • Drive end-to-end ownership of ServiceNow solution delivery — including planning, configuration, testing, and production readiness.

  • Maintain detailed architectural documentation and project artifacts, capturing integrations, workflows, and environment dependencies.

  • Partner with IT operations and enterprise architecture teams to align ServiceNow implementations with broader organizational technology standards.

  • Collaborate closely with team members to refine requirements, build user stories, and ensure clear deliverables.

  • Champion agile best practices and promote a culture of accountability and innovation within the ServiceNow team.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills.

Qualifications
  • No degree and 16 years relevant experience; OR
    • Bachelors degree (related program) and 10 years of relevant experience; OR
    • Masters degree (related program) and 7 years of relevant experience
  • 10-15+ years of experience supporting Enterprise IT programs (Federal Experience Preferred). 
  • Experience with Service Now modules preferred (ITSM, CMDB, etc.).
  • Experience with federal policy and NIST RMF preferred. 
  • Possess at least one professional certification relevant to the technical service provided
    • Certified Technical Architect (CTA)
    • Certified Master Architect (CMA)
