Stellar is an open-source, decentralized payment protocol that allows for fast and cheap cross-border transactions between any pair of currencies. It was founded in 2014 by Jed McCaleb and Joyce Kim. Stellar's native cryptocurrency is called Lumens (XLM). The Stellar network is designed to make it easy to create, send, and trade digital representations of all forms of money: dollars, pesos, bitcoin, pretty much anything. It is used by companies such as IBM and Deloitte to facilitate cross-border payments and micropayments.
