DescriptionNorthrop Grumman Defense Systems is hiring a
Nuclear SuretySystems Engineer (level 2)/Principal Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer (level 3) to join its team in
Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel Program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
What you will get to do:A Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer can get in on the ground floor of a system designed to provide another 50 years of security for this great nation. Nuclear Surety ensures that nuclear weapons are always protected against peacetime and wartime threats. A Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman on the Sentinel program will be provided with the opportunity to:
- Performing decomposition of Department of Defense safety manuals into requirements and allocating them to design teams for implementation
- Provide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a next generation ICBM weapon system
- Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, supportability, and analysis for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems
- Evaluate the physical security design based on the Department of Defense Safety manuals
- Interface directly with various compartments of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to ensure safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systems
- Use model-based engineering tools on a major weapon system to pioneer a new way to evaluate and analyze modern design
- Learn a niche discipline that spans all aspects of Nuclear Power and Munitions
This position may be hired at level 2 or level 3 depending upon applicant qualifications.
Basic Qualifications:Systems Engineer (level 2):- Bachelor's degree in STEM and 2 years of applicable engineering experience. Master's degree and 0 years.
- 6 months of educational or work experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, Capitol
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance (Secret, Top Secret; etc.)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
Principal Systems Engineer (level 3):- Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5 years of related engineering experience, 3 with a masters, 1 with a PhD
- 1 year of experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, Capitol
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance (Secret, Top Secret; etc.)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in nuclear, electrical, or software engineering discipline
- Active DOD Top Secret Clearance
- 1 year of experience with electrical or software analyses/test and verification of requirements
- Experience working with Nuclear Surety Requirements and the Nuclear Certification process (e.g. AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118/91-119/31-108, DODM 5210.41, AFI 91-107)
- Experience and working knowledge of the Sentinel program

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
#SentinelSystemsPrimary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
