Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Work Zone Traffic Control Engineer to join our team in our Raleigh, NC office. In this role, the engineer will work on a multi-disciplinary team leading development of work zone traffic control plans (i.e., traffic management plans), signing delineation, and pavement marking plans for NCDOT, other State DOT agencies, and/or municipal locality transportation projects.
Responsibilities:
The Work Zone Traffic Control Engineer will be responsible for managing projects and developing traffic management plans, signing plans, and pavement marking plans, specifications, special provisions, cost estimates and any required technical reports for all types of transportation construction projects. The individual will be responsible for mentoring and training younger staff; business development for the traffic engineering services group; assisting office leadership with overall growth visioning; managing project tasks; managing budgets, scopes, schedules; and coordinating with clients and subconsultants. The individual will participate in the planning and design of transportation related projects and must be innovative and adaptive at identifying problems and finding solutions.
Requirements:
3Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program3
16+ years relevant experience with minimum 8 years delivering NCDOT Traffic Management, Signing, and Pavement Marking Plan (PMP) projects with examples of signed/sealed plans 3
Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in NC3
Working knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, and NCDOT Standards, Specifications and Guidelines3
Proficient with WZTC traffic management, signing and PMP delineation plan development principles, practices, processes3
Experience with Microstation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD)3
Coordinate and collaborate with other transportation disciplines as required3
Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization3
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with multiple office work share environment3
Proficient with Microsoft Office products3
Desired Requirements:
Alternative Delivery (P3, Design-Build, CMGC) experience3
Experience working on VA, MD, WV, DE, PA, FL, and/or TX projects 3
Experience using traffic analysis software such as Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS and SIDRA3
