The municipal infrastructure team is looking for a
Water Resources Engineer to join our growing team to work on one the most important Canadian airport projects.
This role is based in
Toronto, ON. and the position is
100% in-office in Toronto.
Your role- Supports planning for waste (and circularity) programs, including terminal waste, outbuildings waste, construction waste and circular construction, and off-aircraft waste.
- Supports planning for water resilience programs, including stormwater, water conservation, and water quality.
- Confirms proper handling, recycling, disposal, and removal of waste materials, including hazardous wastes, at the construction sites.
- Confirms that the design considers self-sustaining circular ecosystems and infrastructure requirements, water harnessing to aid in irrigation and stormwater management, innovative solutions to waste and pollution management, and the reduction of the overall carbon footprint.
- Coordinates with Stakeholder Relations and Communications (SR&C) and external stakeholders on all areas of sustainability strategy.
- Confirms that the overall program and design strategy includes all relevant sustainability requirements and responds to the principles of a sustainable development, and occupant lifestyle and well-being.
- Confirms that the approach to the relevant works is consistent with the Canadian airport's vision and strategy for a sustainable, carbon-positive, and environmentally friendly future.
- Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the career development of Client staff.
About you- Typically, a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the environment, energy, or sustainable design sector.
- Experience of delivering sustainability outcomes in the infrastructure sector. Experience in large complex programs considered an asset.
- Holistic understanding of sustainability and Net Zero, with a particular interest in decarbonization (Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions), climate risk assessment and management.
- Demonstrable understanding of sustainability/ESG and climate accounting, management, and disclosure standards and guidance.
- Demonstrable experience in sustainable resource management, materials efficiency, and circular economy.
- Strong technical capability in all project phases and ability to solve complex problems including by using data analytics to support solution identification.
- Recognized degree in related engineering, planning, or sustainability field and professional certification (PE, CEM, LEED AP, ENV SP).

Additional informationExpected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $ 91,000 - 125,100 CAD annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
