Full Job Description
Position Purpose: In our business, one of the biggest risks we take is counterparty exposure. Whether its performance on a forward contract, receipt of AR, or trusting a custodian with holding our inventory, our business requires thoughtful and scalable solutions to monitoring, understanding, and proactively addressing counterparty exposure. This function will lead the Credit Portfolio Management Team who analyzes and manages these exposures. Core functions of the team include onboarding and underwriting counterparties, monitoring and managing ongoing counterparty and portfolio level credit exposure, and facilitating the onboarding of StoneX entities by our counterparties.

This is a function focused both on thoughtful analysis, careful oversight, and broad scalability. As SS&T continues to grow - organically and through acquisition - this position is responsible for defining how PM scales with the business while maintaining high standards for portfolio analysis and monitoring.

This function will partner with StoneX Central Risk team, an oversight team responsible for the broader StoneX commercial credit portfolio. This function will act as a front line for analysis, subject matter expert on the physical trading business and physical deal structure, and key monitoring function while working directly with StoneX Central Credit Team for managing approvals and escalation.

Responsibilities

Primary duties will include:

Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, develop, and manage the PM Team in the regions where SS&T operates, including hiring, coaching, performance management, workload prioritization, and succession planning.
  • Further develop global coverage models, service standards, and escalation paths that scale as the platform adds business lines, counterparties, and jurisdictions.
  • Represent SS&T throughout the company, including periodic reporting on portfolio composition and emerging risks.

Onboarding, Underwriting, and Portfolio Oversight
  • Partner with StoneX Risk, Compliance, AML, and Legal to apply and further develop scalable onboarding and underwriting standards that are consistent across business lines and jurisdictions.
  • Oversee credit underwriting completed by Portfolio Managers and Financial Analysts and directly underwrite larger, more complex exposures, in both instances for approval by StoneX Risk and the Risk Management Committee, as applicable.
  • Act as an effective first screen on requests from business origination groups; where a request does not meet prudent risk parameters, work with the business to structure alternate solutions.
  • Proactively monitor counterparty and portfolio level credit exposure - including exposure versus limits, past due A/R, and expired contracts and escalating emerging risks across the portfolio - coordinating with SS&T Front Office, Operations, and Trade Control as well as StoneX Credit, Market Risk, Compliance, AML, and Legal.
  • Coordinate with Portfolio Managers to manage watch-list and workout accounts.
  • Partner with SS&T Operations on commodity inventory inspections and inventory reconciliations.

Deal Structuring and Insurance Coordination
  • Partner with Front Office, SS&T Platform Teams, other StoneX Groups, and dedicated structuring resources to underwrite, structure, and drive transactions to close, ensuring documentation, conditions precedent, and ongoing monitoring obligations are established and tracked.
  • Coordinate with the trade credit insurance team to ensure proper trade credit insurance policies are in place and reflected in underwriting, limit setting, and portfolio level risk decisions. Potential for role to also include coordination for other insurance (stock throughput, liability, rail, etc.)

Platform Scale and Business Integration
  • Partner with the Integrations Team to conduct diligence on potential acquisitions and integrate acquired businesses into the SS&T platform.
  • Serve as a resource and partner to business lines that have not historically had a PM function, building credibility with commercial teams while introducing credit discipline.

Technology, Data, and Reporting
  • Drive standardization of counterparty onboarding and data structures across SS&T business lines to enable consistent data capture and reliable downstream risk reporting.
  • Partner with the Platform Technology Teams on system, workflow, and automation priorities, and develop portfolio level reporting that ties PM activity to business outcomes.


Qualifications

To land this role you will need:
  • Eight or more years in credit risk, portfolio management, or commodity trade finance, preferably at a physical commodity merchandiser, trading house, or financial institution.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a global team and scaling a function through a period of rapid growth.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing counterparty credit and onboarding policies and requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Deep knowledge of counterparty credit, physical commodity markets, and trade credit.
  • Working knowledge of structured commodity transactions and associated documentation, with the ability to drive complex transactions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate risk decisions to commercial and senior audiences.

What makes you stand out:
  • Experience integrating acquired businesses is strongly preferred.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; familiarity with data analytics tools (SQL, Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish preferred but not required.

Education / Certification Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field.

Working style:
  • 4 days per week onsite, 1 day per week remote
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in assessing opportunities and risk, form an independent opinion, and communicate it effectively.
