Senior Vice President, AI Engineer

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, AI Engineer to join our AI Garage team of Wealth Services group. This role is located in Jersey City, NJ

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • Driving architecture and design decisions for complex GenAI solutions, agentic systems, knowledge platforms, and data products.
  • Leading the implementation of shared frameworks, reusable components, and engineering accelerators adopted across multiple delivery pods.
  • Acting as the primary technical authority within your area of ownership, ensuring consistency of patterns and engineering excellence.
  • Partnering with business & infrastructure stakeholders to define solution approaches and delivery roadmaps.
  • Establishing best practices for observability, security, evaluation, governance, and operational readiness.
  • Mentoring engineers and reviewing designs, code, and production readiness across teams.
  • Hands-on architecture, prototyping, troubleshooting, and delivery of high-value AI capabilities.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
  • 10-14 years of software, data, or AI engineering experience using Python or Java.
  • Extensive experience building and scaling production AI systems.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of: Agentic AI, RAG architectures, semantic technologies, platform engineering, or data engineering.
  • Practical experience building and operationalizing agentic applications, MCP/A2A interoperability solutions, and automated quality assurance and validation processes.
  • Proven record of technical leadership without requiring direct people management.
  • Strong ability to influence executives, architects, and engineering teams.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $120,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
