DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Underwriting Manager to oversee our Major Accounts Property portfolio in the Central Region. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of underwriters focused on complex monoline property accounts with a minimum Total Insured Value of at least $100 million. You will guide, mentor, and develop your team, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to succeed while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Your responsibilities will include analyzing and approving underwriting decisions for large single carrier admitted property accounts by evaluating property exposures, hazards, financial information, requested coverages, loss history, pricing targets, and desired program structures to determine appropriate terms and conditions. You will work closely with Risk Engineering to enhance underwriting processes and strategies, ensuring a profitable book of business, while cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with producers and customers to drive growth and retention.
Additionally, you will contribute to the development and execution of underwriting strategies that align with overall business objectives and market trends. To excel in this role, you will need to maintain the highest level of knowledge in the large property space. Sharing insights and best practices with your team and other stakeholders will be essential to sustain and elevate overall performance.
Responsibilities
- Drives a culture of underwriting excellence across entire portfolio. Drives change initiatives within the team.
- Maintains a visible external profile and excellent relationships with external brokers/agents, partners and stakeholders, leveraging these relationships to help the team achieve their goals and expand their own networks.
- Acts as a point of escalation/referral on particularly tricky or novel underwriting decisions and upholds and exemplifies Liberty`s value proposition across the business and market.
- May cover for manager where required. Accountable for the performance of a portfolio (or part thereof) within a sub-segment of business underwritten by the team.
- Specific technical responsibilities (e.g., related to planning, portfolio management, marketing, product development etc.) will differ in different parts of GRS.
- May continue underwriting specific policies and delivering the work of an Underwriter.
Qualifications
- Degree in Business or equivalent typically required
- A minimum of 10 years progressive underwriting experience expected, including a minimum of 2 years of proven underwriting management experience, preferred
- CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred
- Proven analytical ability to evaluate high impact underwriting risks within scope of responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external partners required

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
