What We're Looking For:

Michael Baker International is seeking a Senior Transportation Project Manager to join our Minneapolis team. This role combines project management, technical leadership, client relationship management, and business development responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering medium to large transportation projects for MnDOT, counties, municipalities, and Design-Build clients while leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring staff.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage transportation and roadway projects from proposal through delivery.
  • Lead project teams in roadway design, plan production, QA/QC reviews, and technical analyses.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and fee proposals.
  • Build and maintain client relationships while supporting business development efforts.
  • Coordinate engineers, technicians, and subconsultants to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Monitor project performance, financials, and resource utilization.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff.
  • Support transportation design efforts utilizing OpenRoads Designer and digital delivery tools.

What You Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minnesota Professional Engineer (PE) license required;
  • 15+ years of transportation engineering and project management experience.
  • Proven experience delivering highway and roadway projects for MnDOT, county, municipal, and other public-sector clients.
  • Strong leadership, client relationship management, business development, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing project scopes, budgets, schedules, quality, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with roadway design, corridor modeling, plan production, and digital project delivery.
  • Design-Build experience, PMP certification, multi-state PE licensure, and staff mentorship experience are preferred.

Compensation

The approximate compensation range for this position is $140,000 to $200,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
