Job Description:

You’ll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the impact analysis, development and strategy for company-wide challenges across multiple domains and product lines. Independently develop, decompose, and maintain system-level requirements, ensuring alignment between business objectives, platform strategies, and implementation across multiple engineering domains.
  • Lead the escalation of challenges to leaders in Milwaukee Tool and drive changes to address them.
  • Lead the definition of electronic/electromechanical system and sub-system requirements and architectures, including driving trade-offs between product marketing, engineering, and other stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain systems collateral, including block diagrams, definition of hardware/firmware interfaces, configuration management, risk assessments, etc.
  • Support the development, integration and refinement of tools and processes used in the execution of system engineering practices within an agile, high-velocity product development environment.
  • Collaborate on the development and execution of system verification and validation strategies.
  • Provide candid and effective communications up, down and across the organization on progress, barrier removal, and escalations of business risks/opportunities. Demonstrate Milwaukee Tool’s culture of high performance and agility by independently creating Work Breakdown Structures for your work and driving to critical milestones.
  • Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet the organization’s needs.
  • Serve as a role model for Milwaukee Tool’s culture while mentoring, guiding, and coaching junior engineers.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.
  • Flow down specific requirements to multiple domains to ensure designs meet applicable regulatory requirements (UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI)

What TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, embedded systems, energy storage systems, power electronics or related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the application of systems thinking and systems engineering methodologies in mechatronic systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in translating asks from internal and external stakeholders into product requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in identification and mitigation of risks in a development setting.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing test data from electromechanical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, exercises independent judgement and works well under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:

  • Experience analyzing and mitigating system risks using structured risk analyses such as FMEA, FTA or STPA.
  • Experience with functional and/or physical architecture development of multi-domain systems.
  • Experience with systems thinking and applying the systems approach to battery-powered embedded electronics systems.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering, Universal Modeling Language (UML), and/or Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
