Job Summary

As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer for Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics you will be responsible for execution and delivery of supplier quality strategies within the relevant program, line of business (LOB), or manufacturing environment. This role involves ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements and leading continuous process improvements to maintain high-quality performance from suppliers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as the Project Manager for resolving supplier caused issues and serve as the internal liaison to DRS stakeholders on supplier caused issues
  • Lead and perform on-site supplier engagements, including performance reviews, surveillances, and QMS audits. Occasional source inspections may also be necessary
  • Conduct process and product audits, capacity assessments, and ensure supplier compliance with military and company standards
  • Evaluate and disposition non-conforming materials and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process and product quality issues with suppliers
  • Initiate and manage Supplier Corrective Action Plans and follow up to ensure objective evidence for closure
  • Monitor, report, improve, and develop supplier performance through robust data analysis and execution of CI initiatives
  • Provide technical support for assembly/test/inspection personnel, specifying sampling plans, and developing inspection methods and criteria within DRS receiving inspection
  • Represent the company with professionalism and credibility in supplier and customer engagements
  • Drive supplier continuous improvement processes and lead cross-functional teams
  • Analyze data to identify and mitigate supplier quality risks to prevent material defect occurrences
  • Understand general procurement principles in defense and commercial environments


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field and a minimum of 5 years of experience preferably in a defense electronics manufacturing environment
  • Proficient technical expertise and application domain knowledge
  • ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred
  • Proficient with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics
  • Ability to understand military specifications and to read blueprints
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
  • Ability to travel to suppliers sites as needed (10-25%)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality System and compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements
  • Proficient experience with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plan tools
  • Certification in J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620
  • Familiarity with IPC-7711
  • Lead Auditor Certification
