POSITION SUMMARY:

Mackin Engineers & Consultants is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex structural engineering projects. In this senior-level role, you will take ownership of high-impact work, mentor junior staff, and contribute technical expertise to multi-disciplinary project teams. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Lead the design and analysis of structural systems for both small and complex infrastructure projects
  • Prepare and review detailed calculations, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and designers, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Review project work for accuracy, constructability, code compliance, and alignment with budget/schedule
  • Assist in developing project budgets, timelines, and resource plans
  • Represent Mackin in client meetings, participate in proposal development, and clearly present technical concepts
  • Manage and coordinate multiple projects concurrently, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery
  • Maintain timesheets and meet expected billable hour targets
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support structural needs across various project types
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives, business development goals, and a culture of excellence
  • Participate in industry events, engineering committees, and professional development efforts
  • Remain informed of evolving industry standards and provide feedback on ways to improve processes and client outcomes


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (required)
  • PE license in Pennsylvania (required); PE in WV, OH, or MD is a plus or must be obtained within 6 months
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of PennDOT programs, design manuals, and publications
  • Familiarity with WVDOH and ODOT standards (preferred, not required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with structural design software
  • Experience with MicroStation preferred; AutoCAD and Deltek Ajera a plus
  • Proven track record of successful project leadership, especially on large-scale assignments
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
