The Opportunity at AltanaAs a Global Public Sector Implementation Delivery Manager (IDM), you are the single-threaded technical owner of delivery for one of Altana's most important public sector accounts or organizations. You blend enterprise architecture, hands-on deployment, and product design and development with the relationship skills to be the trusted technical voice in the room for the mission owners you serve.
You lead a small, account-aligned implementation pod and are accountable for turning a closed-won account into mission outcomes: architecting the deployment, delivering it in secured and regulated environments, keeping it healthy, and finding the next place Altana can create value. You do this hip-to-hip with commercial - partnering with the Technical Account Managers (TAMs) and Program Managers who run the account - using delivery credibility to enable organic growth and inside sales without carrying the commercial number yourself.
This role reports to a GPS Implementation sub-vertical lead (Trade, Resilience, or Policy) within the Implementation function, and is deployed against a named strategic account. For example, an IDM aligned to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) would report to the Trade sub-vertical lead.
Your Responsibilities- Own delivery outcomes for a named strategic account or account groups. Serve as the single-threaded technical owner for implementation and platform delivery to a key public sector account or organization, from post-award through sustainment. Deliver on-time against contractual commitments and hold the technical quality bar.
- Set and steward the account architecture. Translate mission outcomes into a coherent enterprise/solution architecture across SaaS and regulated PaaS environments. Own the deployment, integration, and data-modeling decisions that let the account scale, through upgrades and change.
- Blend architecture, deployment, and product development. Personally architect, deploy, and - where the product doesn't yet do what the mission needs - design and build first-draft capabilities and integrations. Feed working prototypes back to Product and Engineering so they can be hardened and scaled rather than left as one-off custom work.
- Lead the account implementation pod. Direct the Implementation Delivery Specialists, integration engineers, and matrixed platform/cloud resources assigned to the account. Prioritize ruthlessly, assign owners, remove blockers, and mentor the team.
- Be the trusted technical relationship for mission and technical leaders. Build and maintain durable relationships with the customer's architects, engineering leaders, and senior decision-makers. Be the credible technical presence that de-risks delivery and earns the right to shape what comes next.
- Enable inside sales alongside commercial. In partnership with the account's TAMs and Program Managers, convert delivery trust and newly-discovered use cases into a qualified pipeline of upsells and expansions. Surface where the platform can unlock new mission value; the commercial team owns the number and the close.
- Partner on pre-sales, capture, and scoping. Provide technical scoping, level-of-effort, and solution design during the BD motion so we sell only what we can deliver, and so delivery inherits the context it needs to succeed.
- Own technical health and support obligations. Be accountable for system performance, incident response, and the account's customer support obligations across the full lifecycle.
- Meet security, risk, and compliance obligations. Ensure the account's deployments satisfy their security and compliance requirements in regulated environments (e.g., FedRAMP, DoD IL5, and mission-specific enclaves), balancing compliance with scalability and GTM realities.
- Enable and Close the field-to-product loop. Ensure that what the account teams learn on the ground makes it into clearly-framed, prioritized product asks - help commercial and implementation resources properly frame product asks so that they leverage existing features and capabilities, leading to shorter build cycles and thus greater refinement .
About You- 10+ years of technical experience spanning enterprise/solution architecture, hands-on deployment, and product design and development in a data-intensive or software field.
- A track record leading complex, customer-facing software deployments end-to-end - ideally on-premise or in secured/regulated environments - and owning delivery outcomes against firm commitments.
- Enterprise and solution architecture depth across cloud (AWS or Azure, GovCloud and other regulated environments a plus), data engineering (Python, SQL, Spark, Databricks), complex system integrations (REST APIs, SSO/SAML), and containerized deployments (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Comfortable being the trusted technical voice in the room with senior customer stakeholders, and able to translate between mission owners, engineers, and commercial teams.
- Demonstrated ability to spot and shape expansion opportunities, working alongside commercial counterparts to grow an account through delivered value.
- Experienced working with sensitive data and navigating complex, highly regulated technology organizations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to meet Public Trust eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Availability to work on-site in the DC / Virginia / Maryland area for U.S. Federal accounts such as CBP.
Nice to have, but not required- Exposure to trade compliance, supply chain management, shipping and logistics, or a field similarly related to international commerce.
- Experience with AWS GovCloud, FedRAMP, DoD IL5, or other government-managed / accredited environments.
- People-management experience leading small technical delivery teams.
- Experience developing and maintaining APIs and ML toolsets (Scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas, Dedupe).
- Able to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI
