About the Role
American United is hiring Senior Engineers to design, build, and deploy cloud-based data and application solutions. You'll work primarily in Python on Azure, with Databricks and modern DevOps practices, and you'll use AI-assisted developer tools to deliver high-quality software faster. Some positions also involve Java and Spring Boot or machine learning workloads.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain Python applications and data pipelines
Build and manage data solutions using Databricks and Delta Lake
Deploy and operate workloads on Azure (Azure ML, Azure Container Apps) or IBM Cloud / IKS, depending on the team
Write and optimize SQL queries and shell scripts to support data processing and automation
Develop and maintain Java / Spring Boot services (select positions)
Build and train machine learning models with TensorFlow (select positions)
Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions
Use AI-assisted developer tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speed
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile team ceremonies
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, and document solutions and best practices
Required Qualifications
Strong, hands-on experience with Python development
Experience with Azure cloud technologies (Azure ML, Azure Container Apps) or IBM Cloud / IKS
Working knowledge of Databricks and Delta Lake
Proficiency in SQL and shell scripting
Experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions for source control and CI/CD
Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Java and Spring Boot
Experience with TensorFlow and ML model development or deployment
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Azure Container Apps, Kubernetes / IKS)
Familiarity with additional Azure services relevant to data and ML workloads
Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams
