Full Job Description
About the role
Eli is looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our product team full-time, starting as soon as possible. You'll own features end to end across our mobile app and backend, from the first design review to production, and help set the bar for how the team builds and ships software. Your primary responsibilities will be to:
Design, build and ship features end to end across our React Native app and TypeScript backend.
Own what you ship once it's in production: monitor it, investigate incidents, and fix root causes rather than symptoms.
Make and document technical decisions on architecture, APIs and data models, weighing speed today against cost later.
Review code and mentor other developers so the whole team ships faster, with fewer defects.
Work with product, design and QA to shape features before the code is written.
Improve our tooling, tests and CI/CD pipelines so releases stay fast and safe as the app grows.
Treat privacy, security and data integrity as part of the job, since our users trust us with their health data.
This description is not exhaustive. We are looking for someone who has built and run software that real customers depend on, makes sound technical decisions with incomplete information, and makes the people around them better.
About you
You have 5+ years of professional software development experience, building and operating production software. You've owned systems end to end, not just tickets.
You have production experience on a mobile app and/or a Node.js backend, and the willingness to work across both.
You have experience designing APIs and data models.
You can walk us through a system or feature you designed, shipped and maintained in production.
You solve hard, ambiguous problems well and explain your reasoning clearly in writing.
You're pragmatic: you know when to ship the simple version and when to invest in doing it right.
You're fluent in English (written and spoken) and able to work from our office.
(Advantage) You have experience with NestJS, TypeORM or a similar backend framework.
(Advantage) You have native iOS or Android experience (Swift, Kotlin), or React Native, especially with the camera.
(Advantage) You have experience with Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, BigQuery).
(Advantage) You have worked at an early-stage startup or have an interest in digital health.
If you don't exactly match the description but still believe you are the right person to join the team, please reach out. We value mindset and character.
Why you'll love working at Eli
You'll work with a group of talented and mission-driven people eager to improve lifelong health at scale.
You'll be part of the core team developing and commercializing the first product that monitors hormonal data daily and over a lifetime.
You'll join the early-stage startup phase and have a wide-reaching impact in a constantly evolving, fast-paced environment.
You'll be part of a small (
You'll be in an environment where people drive their own work, think creatively about open-ended problems, and solve them proactively.
You'll get health insurance (medical, dental, vision, and more) to ensure you and your family stay physically and mentally at your best.
You'll have flexibility over your schedule and vacations. We seek to hire great people, then give them the autonomy and space they need to achieve their goals.
Although our office and R&D facilities are in Montreal, we have a distributed team. We prioritize asynchronous workflows and minimize meetings to focus on the work itself.
You and your +1 will have unlimited free access to the Bota Bota spa in Montreal to recharge.
