Job DescriptionAbout the Role The Senior Sales Manager drives revenue growth, industry partnerships, and data-driven decision-making for AMC clients. This role develops and executes strategic sales plans, secures sponsorship and exhibitor revenue, identifies new partnership opportunities, and leverages data to improve performance, efficiency, and client outcomes. The position works closely with client teams, industry partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver revenue-generating programs.
Responsibilities: Sales & Revenue Growth- Partner with Executive Directors and client teams to develop integrated sales strategy, plan and performance assessments.
- Conduct research to determine new prospects and attend competitive shows to foster connection and build pipeline
- Secure and contract sponsorship, exhibit, advertising and partnership revenue through conferences and year-round engagement opportunities.
- Analyze historical performance, market research, and industry trends to inform strategy and foster innovation and growth through thought leadership, sponsorship, advertising, and year-round engagement opportunities.
Sales, Marketing & Industry Partner Fulfillment- Execute sales strategies that increase revenue, exhibitor/sponsor return on investment, retention, and member engagement.
- Develop and manage sales and marketing materials, campaigns, LOA's and communications.
- Manage the relationship with the general service contractor and take ownership of the exhibit hall from floor plan design, to space management, communication and on-site management.
- Build and maintain strong industry partner relationships and serve as a resource for exhibitors' best practices, education, experience, and retention.
Budget, Operations & Fulfillment Oversight- Create and manage revenue and expense budgets for conferences, Industry Relations Councils, virtual programs, and other assigned sales initiatives.
- Monitor sales performance, recommend adjustments, and communicate progress and results to clients and AMC leadership.
- Develop project plans with operations staff and cross-functional teams to clarify timelines, responsibilities, deliverables, and client expectations.
- Oversee exhibit hall management, sponsorship and advertising fulfillment, IRC program delivery, vendor relationships, and compliance with applicable industry and accreditation requirements.
Process Improvement, Data & Team Leadership- Work collaboratively to foster and support improvements to Industry Relations processes, data management, reporting, and team workflows to increase consistency and efficiency.
- Provide direction and support to direct reports and Operations Coordinators assigned to client work, ensuring clarity, accountability, and effective execution.
- Mentor colleagues, collaborate across AMC, and model operational excellence, professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
Experience and SkillsRequirements: - Bachelor's degree.
- CEM certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct sales, sponsorship, exhibit, advertising, or industry relations experience, with a proven record of achieving revenue goals and developing new client or partner relationships.
- Strong professional communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear written materials, deliver client-ready presentations, and represent AMC and client organizations effectively with industry partners.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills with the ability to advocate for client and organizational goals while building productive, long-term relationships.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities, take initiative, solve problems, and follow through independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management, budgeting, analytical, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, AI, CRM (Salesforce preferable), Adobe Acrobat, floor plan management software.
- Ability to travel 4-6 times per year, by all modes of transportation including car, plane and train.
- Physical: This role involves extended computer use, including typing, data review, and virtual communication. Ability to travel as needed, stand and walk during trade shows and events, and occasionally lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Compensation: - $90-$100K annually. Within this range, individual pay is determined by relevant factors, including job-related skills, experience, market data, work location, and education or training.
Location:- This is a hybrid role based in Schaumburg, IL. Employees within 50 miles are expected onsite approximately one day per month, with occasional additional visits as needed. Candidates residing more than 50 miles away may be considered for remote work, depending on business needs and location eligibility.
