Senior Sales Engineer - Sales Engineering

Position Overview

The Senior Sales Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the design and sizing of the battery energy storage system and ensuring seamless coordination between Sales, Proposals and Engineering teams. As a key member of the sales process, the Senior Sales Engineer will play a crucial role in reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), determining the optimal system sizing, preparing technical proposals, lead the technical contract documents and negotiations, and ensuring that our solutions meet the needs of our customers. The Senior Sales Engineer will collaborate with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders to secure technical commitments and drive successful project execution.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Proposal teams to review incoming opportunities for fit and specifications to define optimized technical and commercial solutions.
  • Translate customer RFPs into clear and actionable technical requirements.
  • Perform technical system sizing and identify potential system configurations. using LGES-VT proprietary tools, considering performance, thermal, and aging behavior factors.
  • Write detailed technical proposals in response to customer RFPs, ensuring alignment with project requirements and customer expectations.
  • Conduct technical meetings and presentations with customer presentations to review technical proposal or questions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customers, providing support throughout the whole sales process.
  • Collaborate with the client's technical representatives and responsible agencies to review technical requirements and documentation required for both the "technical close" and future solution deliverability, such as interconnection requirements.
  • Lead technical contract exhibits and negotiations, including but not limited to defining technical scope and deliverables, performance metrics, and technical documentation. Identify potential technical risks and their commercial impact, and work with the internal and externals customers to mitigate and negotiate these risks effectively.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Chemical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering) is required. A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience or a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in utility energy storage industry
  • Proven experience in writing complex utility-scale construction proposals, including the design and integration of energy storage systems, with a focus on power and energy optimization and the harmonization of battery and inverter technologies.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • System-level expertise in energy technologies such as photovoltaics, wind, fuel cells, batteries, or heating/cooling systems. Preference for candidates with experience in system design of energy storage projects.
  • Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries, electrical systems, and control and communication architectures is preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge in electric power project development, including permitting, subcontracted services, equipment provision, engineering, or construction.
  • Familiarity with utility capital planning and regulatory approval processes for regulated T&D projects.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills with the ability to generate creative solutions to challenges.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and CAD software.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
