Your role at GEI.

GEI is seeking an experienced and highly organized Senior Risk Manager to join GEI's Risk Management Team. This individual will work closely with GEI's Corporate Counsel / Director of Risk Management to identify and manage project, contract, and execution risks. We are seeking someone who has the knowledge, skills, and experience to proactively manage contractual and business risks and help GEI maintain an effective and efficient risk management program.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Track external trends, benchmarks, and industry best practices around risk management in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry and make recommendations.
  • Negotiate contracts and business terms with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and subconsultants.
  • Identify company, contract, and execution risks and develop mitigation plans to proactively manage those risks.
  • Work closely with insurance brokers and underwriters to satisfy client insurance requirements.
  • Work with GEI's Risk Committee on the implementation of policies and training to reduce and manage GEI's overall risk.
  • Coordinate directly with project managers, senior management, client representatives, and others to quickly resolve questions concerning contractual issues on a time-sensitive basis.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience, including 10 or more years of experience in contract negotiations, dispute resolution, and risk management in the A/E/C industry.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Formal training in contract risk management is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of the A/E/C industry and the associated contract and execution risks and a thorough understanding of the legal meaning and consequence of contract terms.
