Overview

We are seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant with a strong accounting and ASC 606 revenue recognition focus to support project financial performance, strategic planning, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting in a project-based AEC environment. This role serves as a key accounting partner to project managers, operations, and finance leadership to deliver insights that improve project profitability and support informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ASC 606 revenue recognition for project-based contracts, including percentage-of-completion calculations, revenue true-ups, and WIP analysis.
  • Analyze project financial results, including revenue, margins, labor utilization, cost drivers, and variance trends, with a strong emphasis on accounting accuracy and risk identification.
  • Lead month-end close activities related to project accounting, including revenue recognition (percentage-of-completion) and accruals.
  • Partner with project managers to ensure accurate revenue recognition throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and review monthly project performance reports, revenue schedules, forecasts, and dashboards for project managers and operational leadership.
  • Support annual budgeting, multi-year planning, backlog analysis, and scenario modeling by validating revenue recognition assumptions and accounting treatment
  • Apply established revenue accounting policies to project updates and change activity.
  • Build financial models for proposals, fee structures, change orders, and project ROI analysis.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and AEC-specific accounting standards, supporting external audit requests.
  • Help support ad hoc requests from Accounting and Company leadership


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 5-8+ years of public accounting experience or relevant accounting experience in a project-based environment (architecture, engineering, construction, or project-based consulting) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, project accounting, and WIP schedules.
  • Experience supporting audits and applying accounting standards in a close-oriented, execution-focused role.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with project teams and explain accounting outcomes to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Deltek Vantagepoint experience a plus.


This position is designated as full-time on-site and requires the employee to be physically present at the assigned office location Monday through Friday during standard business hours. Regular, reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of this role.
